ALCTS Serials Section announces name, mission change

Posted by Max on 27 July, 2007 in Educational Services

The Serials Section of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), has adopted a new name. The Serials Section is now known as the Continuing Resources Section. The name change was adopted in response to the trends in the profession, the materials that serials librarians work with and the digital information environment. With the new name comes a revised mission for the Continuing Resources Section, which is to contribute to library service and librarianship through development of theory and practice concerning continuing resources in all formats; to initiate and support studies, reports, discussions and publications; to encourage specialized education programming and training for practitioners in the fields of continuing resources management; and to coordinate the activities within the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services and within the American Library Association with respect to continuing resources in all formats.
