Save the World - Don’t Use Plastic Bags!

Posted by David on 24 January, 2008 in Library News

Here at SOLINET we are trying to become more green. We are reducing our paper usage, replacing incandescent lights with compact fluorescents, and looking at ways to make our job-related travel more efficient.

There have been recent news reports of companies like Whole Foods stopping the use of all plastic bags by Earth Day 2008. Then there are some libraries that are starting to do this as well. One example is a library in Norwich, UK - “More than 20,000 Love Your Library jute bags have been sold in Norfolk since they were introduced last year as an alternative to environmentally damaging plastic carrier bags” according to the article.

Does your library have a green story? Let us know!
