Check out the new online encyclopedia of Alabama:

The Encyclopedia of Alabama, a new online reference resource on Alabama’s history, culture, geography and natural environment will launch Monday, Sept. 15. Alabama’s governor is scheduled to officially present the site to the state during the annual Alabama Humanities Awards Luncheon in Birmingham. The Encyclopedia of Alabama (www.EncyclopediaofAlabama.org) is like a traditional print encyclopedia with its emphasis on authoritative content based on sound scholarship; the edited entries are written by scholars and experts from across the globe. But the online format makes it a modern reference tool offering video, audio, graphics and hyperlinks. The site launches with more than 500 articles, 2,000 images and four hours of video clips. New content will be added on a weekly basis–more than 5,000 potential articles have been identified and that list continues to grow.
