President Signs Tough New Anti-Piracy Law

President Bush on Monday signed into law the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act (PRO-IP Act), which provides stiffer penalties for breaching intellectual property.
Formerly known as the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights Act, the PRO-IP Act was introduced by Senators Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Arlen Spector (R-Penn.) in the Senate in July.

Grants for sound recordings

Do you have historically significant classical music recordings? The Association for Recorded Sound Collections is offering grants between $2,000-$10,000 for their preservation.
The ARSC Program for the Preservation of Classical Music Historical Recordings will also consider funding:

Conservation Assessments for Museums

The Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) provides small to mid-sized museums of all types, from art museums to zoos, with a general conservation assessment of its collection, environmental conditions, and facilities. Forms for applying to CAP are now available at www.heritagepreservation.org. The postmark deadline for submitting applications is December 1, 2008.
