The landscape of gaming has certainly changed. Back in September, Pew Internet & American Life Project published a report with the title “Teens, Video Games and Civics“. Among all the findings of the report, supported by various statistics from every angle you can think of, the essential finding is that game playing is universal among all American teens.

This is an exciting survey to support the library community’s effort in promoting gaming in libraries. The benefit of libraries’ holding game collections and hosting gaming events, to name only a few, includes engaging patrons’ participation, increasing communities’ awareness, facilitating learning experience, and etc.

A lot of our members are pioneers in this engagement. From collection development to event organization, from game creation to gaming research, our members celebrate this new scenery in libraries with great enthusiasm.

So what are you doing in your library regarding gaming? If not yet, do you want to start? Contact us and share your thoughts!
