Board Development, Anyone?

Posted by LynHopper on 2 December, 2009 in Librarians, Public Libraries

Jennifer has graciously assigned me a password to be a guest blogger, and I am wondering if there is interest in library board development among the “Check It Out!” readers. I have just started a consulting company, and a new blog in conjunction with that. You can see my board-related post here.

Consider these questions, and let me know if you’d be interested in reading more about any of them:
* How can we cultivate leadership among board members?
* What are some methods for engaging board members in continuing education?
* What documents are important for keeping boards on track?
* How can the library director take advantage of the expertise of board members without encouraging micromanagement?
* What can be done about a micromanaging board member?
* What is a board profile, and how can it help in assembling a representative board?
* Should board members also be officers in the Friends of the Library group?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Lyn
